Remembering Cancer Awareness

Today instead of sharing an outfit I am going to share the story of a strong woman who lost her fight with cancer and a very special Etsy treasury I created this morning.  This treasury is in support of all those who are battling cancer and those who have lost their fight with cancer.  This holds a very special place in my heart because I have loved ones who have gone home to be with God after fighting cancer.

This morning a very special lady from the church I attend passed away after her battle with cancer.  She was a young woman in her late thirties.  She left behind her fiance and their 12 year old daughter.  Laurie was a huge inspiration to our church family.  She was diagnosed with stage 4 uterine cancer just days after giving her life over to God.  Her battle began in 2006 when she was diagnosed with ovarian cancer.  She underwent a partial hysterectomy to remove the cancer.  The doctors thought that they had caught it all.  Several months ago she began attending church and gave her life over to God.  After getting saved she drew closer to God and saw her family saved as well.  Just days after being saved she was diagnosed with cancer yet again.  This time the doctors told her that it was not operable and that she should prepare herself and family for her imminent death.  With prayers and God's miraculous healing power things changed very quickly for Laurie.  The doctors ran more tests and changed their minds about her diagnoses.  They were able to perform a total hysterectomy removing most of the cancer.  Laurie underwent heavy dosages of chemo therapy over the next six months.  Her tumor disappeared but unfortunately it just wasn't enough.  She appeared to be getting better and then suddenly she took a turn for the worse.  Doctors determined there was a blockage in her intestines.  We later found out that this blockage was cancer.  By the time doctors found it, it was too late.  Laurie had lost so much weight that she was not able to have the surgery needed to remove the blockage.  This morning Laurie lost her battle.  During the course of just months, Laurie never wavered or showed fear.  She always had a smile on her face and shared love with everyone around her.  It is my prayer that at least one person find inspiration from this story.  A hope that will give someone a reason to live!
